System Requirements for the TrustWatch Toolbar

What are the system requirements to run the TrustWatch toolbar?
The system requirements for running the TrustWatch toolbar are:

  • Microsoft Windows (95, 98, ME, NT, 2000 or XP)

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5.01 or greater.

When will the TrustWatch toolbar be available for other browsers?
The TrustWatch toolbar is only available for Internet Explorer for the moment. The implementation of the TrustWatch toolbar with other browsers will be developed in the future.

Do AOL browser users can install the TrustWatch toolbar?
The TrustWatch toolbar can only be installed on Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5.01 or greater for the moment.

 

Installation of the TrustWatch Toolbar

The TrustWatch toolbar is installed, but it does not appear on the browser.
From your browser, click on "View > Toolbars" and select TrustWatch by GeoTrust - BETA.

Why has the installation of the TrustWatch toolbar failed even while using Windows NT or 2000?
If the user is running Windows NT or Windows 2000, he has to check with his system administrator that he has the administrative privileges required to install applications.

How do users know a new version of the TrustWatch toolbar is available?
The TrustWatch toolbar has an auto-update system. Users are notified when an update is made avaialble. To ensure a flawless update, a warning is issued if more than one instance of Internet Explorer is opened.

Why do some users get an ActiveX error message when trying to install the TrustWatch toolbar?
Your Internet security settings might be on High. This setting will prevent ActiveX controls from running. To install the TrustWatch toolbar, you must have ActiveX controls enabled. To do this, follow these simple steps:

  • From your browser, select Tools > Internet Options

  • Click on the Security Tab

  • Click on the Internet icon in the window

  • Change security setting to Medium

  • Click OK

  • Or you may try to reinstall the TrustWatch toolbar.

 

Using the TrustWatch Toolbar

Is it possible to change the location of the TrustWatch toolbar in Internet Explorer?
From your browser, make sure that "Lock the toolbars" on "View > Toolbars" is not checked. Once done, you can move the TrustWatch by GeoTrust - BETA by grabbing it with the mouse and moving it elsewhere.

How does the Popup Blocker work?
Today the Popup Blocker can either be ON (Disallow Popups) or OFF (Allow popups). We are working on modifications that will allow users to selectively allow/disallow sites as well as reset the Popup counter.

Can the user hide and show the TrustWatch toolbar?

To hide or show the TrustWatch toolbar:

  • From your browser, click View > Toolbar.

  • Select or Deselect S the TrustWatch by GeoTrust - BETA from the list displayed.

What is Phishing?
Phishing attacks use 'spoofed' e-mails in combination fraudulent web sites that are specifically designed to fool recipients into revealing personal information such as; credit card numbers, account information, usernames and passwords and other sensitive information. Typically these phishers mimic well-known trusted brands like banks, online retailers and credit card companies. Phishers are on average able to convince up to 5% of recipients to respond and provide sensitive information.
